Online Learning Platform Software for Academies

Join.To.IT builds online learning platform software for academies and training businesses that sell courses to consumers or B2B catalogues. Catalogue, enrolment, community, and the marketing operations around filling seats — not an internal L&D suite, and not a Moodle we resell.

The academy business: catalogue, enrolment, and community

An online academy is a commercial operation. People find a course, pay or get allocated a seat from a B2B catalogue, show up to live or on-demand delivery, talk to other learners, and either finish or churn. Spreadsheets plus a generic course player usually break first on merchandising, waitlists, instructor calendars, and the campaign work that fills the next cohort.

We build the platform that business runs on. Storefront and catalogue, checkout and enrolment, community, live session ops, and the enrolment-marketing tools your growth team actually uses. We are not installing Moodle, and this is not software for a company’s internal training department.

Platforms for course businesses and academies

Start with catalogue and enrolment — the two places academies lose revenue — then add community and live operations.

01

Course catalogue and storefront

How programmes are found, compared, and merchandised for consumers and for B2B buyers browsing a catalogue.

  • Public and gated catalogues
  • Pricing, bundles, and cohorts
  • Instructor and syllabus pages
  • Search, filters, and collections
  • Partner-branded catalogue views
02

Enrolment and checkout

The path from interest to a seat: payments, coupons, waitlists, and bulk allocation when a company buys a catalogue block.

  • Consumer checkout and receipts
  • Coupons, bundles, and payment plans
  • Waitlists and capacity rules
  • B2B seat allocation from a catalogue
  • Refund and transfer handling
03

Delivery and live session ops

On-demand modules plus the operational work of live cohorts: rooms, attendance, recordings, and instructor calendars.

  • On-demand module playback
  • Live session scheduling
  • Attendance and recording links
  • Instructor calendar and conflicts
  • Timezone-aware reminders
04

Community and learner social

Discussion, cohorts, and events that keep a paid academy from feeling like a file dump of videos.

  • Cohort and course spaces
  • Moderation queues
  • Events and office hours
  • Direct messages with guardrails
  • Digest emails from activity
05

Enrolment marketing operations

The ops layer that fills seats: campaigns, landing offers, abandoned checkout, and the lists your marketers live in.

  • Campaign and UTM capture
  • Abandoned enrolment follow-up
  • Launch waitlists
  • Affiliate or partner codes
  • Audience sync to email tools
06

Instructor and success consoles

Tools for instructors and student-success staff to see who is stuck, who is live tonight, and who needs a human nudge.

  • Instructor dashboards per cohort
  • Completion and dropout views
  • Assignment dropboxes if you use them
  • Success-task queues
  • Exportable roster reports
AI for online academies

Assist learners and staff without replacing instructors

AI helps an academy answer syllabus questions after hours, draft campaign copy, and flag learners going quiet. Instructors still teach, moderate, and decide what goes in the catalogue. Nothing here is positioned as a teacher replacement.

Our Join.To.IT AI development team connects these capabilities to your catalogue, enrolment events, and published course materials.

Syllabus-grounded learner help

Answer questions from the modules a learner is enrolled in, with citations, so night-time support is assistive rather than a bot pretending to teach the course.

Community moderation support

Surface likely spam or off-policy posts for a human moderator. The academy still owns the rules and the final decision.

Practice prompts for instructors

Draft practice questions from existing lessons for instructors to edit and publish. Generated drills do not go live unsupervised.

Quiet-learner signals

Flag enrolments whose activity dropped after week one so success staff can send a human message before the refund window.

Catalogue and campaign drafts

Propose course blurbs and launch emails from your outline for marketers to rewrite — not autonomous enrolment spam.

Academy integrations

Connect the storefront to payments, email, and live video

Online academies already live in payment providers, email and CRM tools, video conferencing, and analytics. We integrate those so enrolment, community activity, and campaign audiences stay in sync.

We do not resell Moodle or another packaged LMS. If you already host content in a player that works, we can keep it and build catalogue, enrolment, and community around it.

Why custom software

Why academies outgrow a course-player subscription

Consumer course tools are built for a creator and a checkout link. The moment you run live cohorts, a B2B catalogue, community, and a marketing calendar, the product you subscribed to becomes a constraint on the business.

You sell a catalogue, not one funnel

Bundles, waitlists, partner catalogues, and mixed live/on-demand SKUs need merchandising logic generic players skip.

Enrolment marketing is operations

Launches, abandoned checkout, and affiliates are daily work. They should sit on the same enrolment record as the classroom.

Community is part of the offer

If people pay for access to a room and a cohort, that space needs moderation, not a leftover comments plugin.

B2B catalogues are not L&D

Employers buying seats from your catalogue still expect allocation and invoices. That is still your academy, not their HR system.

A Moodle licence is not the business

Installing a packaged LMS does not give you storefront, waitlists, or campaign ops. Those are the academy’s actual software problem.

Our development process

From storefront to a working academy platform

The same Join.To.IT delivery process, applied to catalogue, enrolment, community, and live session operations.

01

Business analysis

Map how courses are merchandised, sold, delivered, and supported today, including live sessions and the campaigns that fill them.

02

Solution design

Define the data model for catalogue SKUs, enrolments, cohorts, and community spaces, plus payment, email, and video integrations.

03

UI/UX design

Design public storefront, learner, instructor, and marketing-ops experiences so capacity and waitlists are visible in the product.

04

Development

Build catalogue and enrolment first, then delivery, community, live ops, and the marketing hooks that depend on clean enrolment data.

05

Quality assurance

Test capacity rules, checkout edge cases, timezone-sensitive live sessions, and moderation permissions under concurrent cohort load.

06

Launch & support

Launch with one programme or catalogue slice, train instructors and success staff, then open merchandising tools for the next launch.

FAQ

Online learning platform questions

Practical answers for academy founders, heads of education, and growth leads selling courses.

Do you sell or install Moodle for academies?
No. We do not resell Moodle or another packaged LMS. We build online learning platform software around how you sell and run courses: catalogue, enrolment, community, and live operations. If a content player you already use is fine, we can keep it and wrap the commercial layer around it.
Is this the same as corporate training software?
No. Corporate training software is for a company’s internal L&D team: assignments, manager dashboards, and mandatory completions. This page is for academies and course businesses selling to consumers or offering a B2B catalogue. The buyer, the storefront, and the marketing ops are different.
How much does learning platform development cost?
A focused catalogue and checkout with a simple player is a contained build. Live cohorts, community, waitlists, and B2B catalogue allocation increase scope. We price after discovery against a defined feature set and expected enrolment volume, not a per-student SaaS seat you cannot control.
Can we sell both consumer courses and B2B catalogues?
Yes. Those are two commercial paths on the same academy, not two products. Consumers check out; company buyers get allocation, invoices, and a catalogue view. Neither path is an internal HR learning programme, and neither requires us to claim any education accreditation.
Does AI replace instructors on the platform?
No. Assistive help can answer questions from enrolled materials, draft practice items for instructors, and flag quiet learners. Teaching, live sessions, moderation decisions, and what you publish in the catalogue stay with your instructors and staff. AI does not run the classroom.
Can you connect Stripe, email tools, and Zoom?
Where those services expose APIs, yes. Enrolment should create the right access, live session links, and marketing audiences without exporting CSVs. We confirm the exact providers and event volume during discovery so reminders and community invites do not double-send in production.
